Permai Village Cafe – Vegetarian Delight

In Mix cuisines on June 2, 2011 at 12:39 am

Like many things of value, Permai Village Cafe is a hidden gem nestled in the green and lush new neighborhood in Tanjong Tokong. The place is inviting and the passion that mother and daughter-in-law team (Carol and Joanne) has is evident in the delicious food the amazing duo whips up! Vegetarian Delight, rightly so!

There is an array of cuisines: ranging from local dishes to pastas and even Mexican! Tip – Saturdays is their taco night (hard shell tacos).

We had a specific task. We knew well ahead that Wednesdays meant their very popular item, Nasi Lemak, would be the daily special. It’s available on Saturdays as well but honestly, Saturday is just too far away. We needed our Nasi Lemak fix now!

We made their way to the place they knew would appease their burgeoning appetites.

And now the food.

2. Pumpkin Soup with garlic bread

3. Assam Laksa

  1. oh, thanks for sharing!!

  2. Nice review! Good job!

How many vegetarian eateries do you estimate there are in total in Penang? I’d be curious to know!

    Keep up the good work!

    • Thanks Luke!

That’s a good question. There are many undiscovered places scattered around the island and a few have sprouted up since your last visit.

Within inner Georgetown I’ll say around 15 to 20 counting the Indian restaurants.

I’ll try to cover as many as I can to give everyone choices. :)

  3. Previously in Tourism Penang website, they have an Excellent list of Vegetarian Outlets in Penang. But now it is not feature in their site anymore. Can you ask them to put it back by popular DEMAND?
    Keep up your Good Work!

    • Hi there,

Yea, now that you mentioned it, I do remember that site! Yea, maybe I ought to e-mail them…but in the meanwhile you have this blog as a guide.

Thanks for your words of encouragement.

  4. I am so thrilled to have found your blog, not feeling so lonely being a vegetarian! Thanks for your listing, keep up the great job to promote healthy eating! Why not organizing some vegetarian food trial like the one in Spore, Vege Thursday, or Meet-up??

    • Hi Pauline,

Boy are we glad to see comments like this! We do apologize for the late reply! That sounds like a great idea but unfortunately we are all tied up with work projects.

However, if you like out facebook page, you’ll find many other herbivores or perhaps you could e-mail us and we could arrange something? :)

      Happy eating!
